About Us
Horizon Nuclear Power is a UK energy company developing a new generation of nuclear power stations to help meet the country’s need for stable and sustainable low carbon energy. With headquarters in Gloucestershire and a site office in Anglesey, the company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. We are currently planning to deliver at least 5,200MW of electricity, enough power for around 10 million homes.
Nuclear power can play a vital role in meeting the challenge of maintaining affordable and secure energy supplies for the UK, while also tackling the global threat of climate change. This is why we are developing the next generation of nuclear power stations for the UK.
These new nuclear power stations will help Britain hit emissions reduction targets and create thousands of new jobs for UK companies. Each power station could create around 1,000 permanent jobs and a peak of up to 6,000 during construction at our sites at Wylfa on Anglesey and then at Oldbury, South Gloucestershire.
Together with national, regional and local government, as well as sector bodies, colleges and universities, we are working to ensure that people and businesses in local communities are well placed to take advantage of new jobs and supply contracts.

The role of Hitachi-GE-Nuclear Energy, Ltd.
Hitachi-GE-Nuclear Energy, Ltd. (HGNE) is the reactor technology provider and, as such, is Horizon’s principle Tier 1 contractor. HGNE will lead a delivery team that will carry out the design, equipment provision and build of the main plant using the intended reactor technology – the UK Advanced Boiling Water Reactor.
These new nuclear power stations will help Britain hit emissions reduction targets and create thousands of new jobs for UK companies.
