Key Stage 2 (age 7 – 11)
Electricity and Me (Activity Pack)
This is designed to engage children and introduce them to the science behind low carbon energy, including nuclear. The pack supports STEM (science technology, engineering and maths) subjects and promotes group discussion, independent thinking and problem-solving skills. As well as a teacher and parent guide, the pack includes a PowerPoint presentation, animations and an ‘Electricity and Me’ guide to help pupils complete the activities.
Each of the six activities can be completed in class or at home and will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes, although some will require a little preparation.
The six activity sessions incorporate a mixture of animations, worksheets and practical activities. These are:

- How does nuclear energy work? Animation and worksheets
- How you can save the planet? Practical activity and worksheets

We also support Act on STEM, a campaign launched in 2017 by the North Wales Economic Ambition Board to encourage greater awareness of the opportunities a career in science, technology, engineering and maths could open. You can find out more here.
Electricity and You (App)
A short, fun app designed to get children thinking about how they use electricity in the home and how nuclear power stations generate electricity. The App is also supported by a set of downloadable Maths worksheets. The App can be downloaded onto Apple and Android tablets.
