Nuclear Site Licence Application

Before a company can build and operate a nuclear power station a number of permissions need to be in place, including a Nuclear Site Licence. Horizon has submitted its Nuclear Site Licence application for the proposed Wylfa Newydd Power Station on Anglesey to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR).

Horizon made its Nuclear Site Licence application to the ONR in spring 2017, with a targeted grant date of late 2018.

Our consenting process documents

Office staff at Horizon’s Valiant Court office Our scoping report sets out the range of detailed studies we have proposed to establish the environmental impact of the project. This will result in an Environmental Statement, which is an essential part of the planning application for Wylfa Newydd.

Magnox Alternative Premises Planning Application

In this section you can find documents that have been prepared to support a planning application submitted by Horizon Nuclear Power to Isle of Anglesey County Council for a replacement Alternative Emergency Control Centre (AECC) and District Survey Laboratory (DSL) to serve the Magnox Power Station (now in decommissioning).

Our Wylfa Newydd Planning Performance Agreement

Horizon staff carrying out site investigation work We have signed a Planning Performance Agreement (PPA) with Isle of Anglesey County Council for the Wylfa Newydd project. A PPA is a standard part of the planning process for a major infrastructure project.

It gives the local planning authority the additional resources it needs to independently assess a proposal while still carrying out its statutory responsibilities.
