Horizon has applied to Natural Resources Wales (NRW) for a Marine Licence. If granted, the Licence would allow Horizon to carry out certain activities on, in or under the sea.

Application for a Construction Water Discharge Environmental Permit

Horizon has applied to Natural Resources Wales (NRW) for a Construction Water Discharge Activity Environmental Permit. If granted, Horizon would be able to safely discharge water into the sea and carry out other related activities while constructing Wylfa Newydd.

A5025 On-line Highway Improvements

Isle of Anglesey County Council has granted planning permission for improvements to the existing A5025 between Valley and the Wylfa Newydd site. The associated documents are included below.

The proposals include reconstructing and widening some sections of the road and applying a new surface dressing. The proposals also include a Temporary Construction Compound, drainage infrastructure, boundary treatments, planting, new signage and road markings.

In response to the planning application for the proposed A5025 On-line Highway Improvements submitted to Isle of Anglesey County Council (IACC) in November 2017, IACC received a number of comments from a range of stakeholders. This resulted in a request for additional information on some aspects of the application.  We held meetings with many of the stakeholders to discuss their comments and have prepared a series of amended drawings and documents which we submitted to IACC on 27th April 2018, which are below.
IACC has distributed consultation letters and copies of the documents and drawings at public libraries and the Council Offices, for comments to be received by 30th May 2018. The Council will then proceed to make a decision on the planning application in June 2018.

Non-technical and summary documents related to this application are also available in Welsh. Some technical documents are published in English only, in accordance with Horizon’s Welsh Language Policy.

On 13 July 2018 Isle of Anglesey County Council granted planning permission for the A5025 On-line Highway Improvements considered in respect of application ref: 27C106E/FR/ECON as set out in the documents below. A copy of the decision notice (in Welsh and English) is avaiable here.
 

Site Preparation and Clearance

Preparing and clearing the Wylfa Newydd site for construction will be the first major phase of work towards building the Power Station. Our proposals include establishing fencing around the site, temporary storage compounds and carrying out site clearance works.

The Site Preparation Clearance planning application was approved by Isle of Anglesey County Council on 5th September 2018, subject to a legal agreement and conditions. The decision notice will be posted on this site once it is available.

Site Preparation and Clearance – Factsheet

Application documents, necessary to meet the legal requirements of a planning application, can be found below: The planning application is supported by an Environmental Statement that includes the information required to assess the likely significant environmental effects of the development. It is made up of the following volumes as well as a non-technical summary: The supporting documents are standalone assessments that support both the Environmental Statement and the Planning Application: Updates to the Application have been made as result of consultation responses and clarifications to information already submitted.  The only substantial changes to the application are: Community Impact Report summarises the impacts of the development on local communities, focusing in particular on how the development would affect the villages of Tregele and Cemaes which are situated in close proximity to the works.

Our consenting process documents

Office staff at Horizon’s Valiant Court office Our scoping report sets out the range of detailed studies we have proposed to establish the environmental impact of the project. This will result in an Environmental Statement, which is an essential part of the planning application for Wylfa Newydd.

Wylfa Newydd Site Compound Planning Application

In this section you can find documents that have been prepared to support a planning application submitted by Horizon Nuclear Power to Isle of Anglesey County Council for the retention of the site compound. The site compound is located centrally within the proposed Wylfa Newydd Development Area and is used to accommodate vehicles and temporary facilities for operations like archaeological investigations.

On 17th July 2018 Isle of Anglesey County Council granted planning permission for the retention of the temporary workers compound adjacent to the access road at Wylfa. A copy of the decision notice (in Welsh and English) is available here
 

Neighbourhood Support Scheme

Neighbourhood Support Scheme Construction of the Power Station will form a large-scale project carried out over a relatively long period of time. We know the potential effects of construction are a particular concern to those living nearest to the Power Station Site.
