More than £80k donated by Horizon to local causes in the last year

Local charities and community groups across North Wales have received more than £80,000 in the last year thanks to a local project support scheme.
Horizon Nuclear Power’s Charitable Donations, Community Support and Sponsorship scheme helped more than 40 organisations across North Wales between April 2016 and 2017 and has donated more than £185,000 across the region since its launch in summer 2014.

Groups benefitting from the scheme in the last year include the Anglesey Show, Cylch Meithrin Cemaes and Ynys Môn Citizens Advice. The scheme has part-funded a new motorbike for Blood Bikes Wales in North Wales, an electric van for Anglesey Rural Food Bank and supported the new Llangefni Urban Sports Park.

Richard Foxhall, Stakeholder Relations Manager at Horizon Nuclear Power, said: “Wylfa Newydd will be a part of the community for more than 100 years, so it’s really important that we support local good causes that benefit people in the area.

“We’re delighted to see so many people applying to us for support and are pleased that we’ve been able to provide donations to such a broad range of organisations and charities doing excellent work in communities across the region.

“We continue to encourage local causes to contact us if they have a project that fits our criteria and look forward to supporting many more organisations in the coming years.”
